Hey! I'm Ashley
I am a registered nurse and a certified nurse midwife. I am a mother to two beautiful girls. I am one of four sisters. I am a daughter. I am a friend. I am a partner.

When I discovered I was pregnant with my first baby, I immediately became a Google master! I wanted to know everything about what was happening in my body and how to give my baby the best environment to grow. Unfortunately, I found a lot of information that was not only inaccurate, it also made me set unrealistic expectations for myself. Even being a nurse at the time, I felt I was ill-equipped and unprepared to grow a child, birth a child or raise a child. Birthing Characters is designed with birthing families at the center, in hopes of providing support, resources and information more conveniently and accessibly.

Why We're Different
My diverse background within the healthcare system allows me a unique perspective. I am able to appreciate the normalcy of pregnancy and birth. It is also through my experience that I am able to have a deep respect for pregnancy and birth. The care provided through Birthing Characters is meant to support the birth of many characters: your new baby, your new outlook, your new confidence and whatever else is unveiled through our time together.

My journey to midwifery was no accident. My approach is unique and individualized to meet the needs of the birthing family. By using the midwifery model of care and practicing with current evidence-based guidance, I am committed to improving maternal and newborn outcomes in at-risk communities. This work is intentional and important!
